The condensed guide to writing a Redwall humor fic!

Panelist: Nell Ros-pal

Hi! I’m Nell, and I’m the author of this column, obviously. This column has tips for writing Redwall humor. When I write a Redwall humor fic I always ask myself this: Should I write it in scrip format or the regular format? In my opinion, it’s best to write in script format when you write parodies. Though from experience, you get better comments if you try to other format.

Also try to have good grammar. When I read fics, I look for the ones with good grammar. If I find with really bad grammar, I don’t even bother reading it, and yes, it applies to humor fics too.

Now, I’m done with the boring stuff, and on to the plot and ideas! Bloopers and You Know You’re Obsessed With Redwall lists are a bit over done, but are still good if they’re well done and thought out. A good one to do is ‘Things Redwall Characters will never say,’ it’s never been done. So, what I mean is pick something original. Even though it’s a humor fic, it’s best to keep the characters semi in character. Don’t have Martin go evil and helping out Tsarmina, though I admit I did have Martin kind of have a little too much ale in a fic, resulting in… Pain. Though it wasn’t very realistic.

Those are a few tips for humor fics, and even though these tips are aimed at humor fics, they’ll work with any other genre. I know, you’d expect a column on humor fics to be, well, humorous, but I’m special and that rule doesn’t apply to me. ^_^; Please excuse that face, old habit, and it scares me too.
